Threat Actor Profiling

Building a picture of who is behind an attack, including their tools, infrastructure, motives, and partners.

Also known as adversary profiling attacker attribution

Threat actor profiling is the process of identifying and characterizing the individuals or groups behind cyberattacks. Profiles typically cover tooling preferences, targeting patterns, infrastructure reuse, language cues, and relationships with other criminal entities.

Infostealer intelligence adds a powerful dimension to profiling because infections expose the attacker's own machines. Hudson Rock has used compromised criminal infrastructure to unmask ransomware operators, nation-state affiliates, and fraud networks.
